Choosing Textbooks for IEPs Using Objective and Subjective Measures
There are many variables when choosing textbooks for an IEP. This session will describe two objective methods for analyzing textbook passages: readability and vocabulary difficulty. In addition, this session will discuss ways to elicit teachers’ opinions about textbook difficulty. Triangulating these three measures can help programs select level-appropriate textbooks.
