Take Action May 2020
Share |

Let's take action to make sure that our voices are heard in Washington to ensure that international students are able to return to post-secondary English language programs when in-person classes resume and to mitigate continued decline in international student enrollment

Use these resources to TAKE ACTION as international education professionals and voting constituents!

  1. Review this template with language provided by NAFSA in its Issue Briefs [NOTE: it is lengthy--be sure to look through entire document to make changes]
  2. Customize the information with data about your own state, student stories, program successes, community impact, etc.  More resources and sample handouts on the Advocacy Resources page (get your district/state information from NAFSA's International Student Economic Value Tool)
  3. Find the contact information for your Members of Congress--some provide an email, but most provide a form (Advocacy Resources)
  4. Mail or email your letter

COVID-19 Advocacy Resources

  • Letters EnglishUSA sent to the House and Senate (March 24, 2020)
  • Letters sent to House and Senate leadership on behalf of EnglishUSA Membership (May 1, 2020)
  • NAFSA's Call for Stories related to COVID-19 and international education for lawmakers
