Bio
Annie Gill-Bloyer is the Director of the School for the Advancement of English Language and Learning (SAELL) at Northeastern Illinois University, where she oversees both the in-person Intensive English Program and the online SAELL Anywhere program. She also serves as an Instructor of TESOL, teaching future and in-service educators across a range of instructional modalities. Annie brings a practitioner-scholar perspective to her leadership, with deep experience in curriculum development, assessment, faculty supervision, admissions, budgeting, and international student advising. Since becoming Director in 2021, she has guided SAELL through post-pandemic recovery and growth, expanding online offerings, strengthening partnerships, and diversifying program formats to respond to shifting student mobility trends. She serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and works closely with campus and external partners to support international students’ academic pathways. An engaged EnglishUSA member since 2022, Annie has participated in Certified Trade Missions and recruitment visits and credits EnglishUSA’s data, advocacy, and professional community with supporting her growth as a program director. She also brings nonprofit governance experience through board service with Literacy Works.
