Rebecca (Becky) Challenger is Professor of Instruction and Assistant Director of the Ohio Program of Intensive English (OPIE) at Ohio University, where she has served in a variety of instructional and leadership roles for more than 15 years. Her experience spans teaching at all proficiency levels, academic coordination, curriculum and faculty development, accreditation leadership, grant-funded special programs, and international outreach. At OPIE, Becky has played a central role in curriculum redesign, CEA self-studies, teacher training initiatives, and the development and delivery of large-scale special programs for international educators through partnerships with organizations such as IIE, American Councils, and EducationUSA. She brings deep expertise in faculty engagement, program quality, and mission-driven growth within university-based IEPs. Becky has a long history of service to EnglishUSA, including prior service as Board Secretary, Chair of the Membership Development and Engagement Committee, and contributor to strategic planning and professional development efforts. She is widely respected for her collaborative leadership, steady governance approach, and commitment to strengthening the English language profession and its member programs.
