Julie Baer is the Deputy Director of Research, Evaluation & Learning (REL), where she specializes in research related to international education and academic mobility. Her work centers on analyzing historical trends and current patterns in educational exchange, and she brings experience leading the strategy, design, and execution of complex research projects to generate data-driven insights that inform stakeholders. Ms. Baer leads the Open Doors Report on International Educational Exchange, a comprehensive resource on international students and scholars in the United States and American students studying abroad for academic credit. She also oversees IIE’s signature Snapshot Survey Series, which provides critical insights on the current landscape of international educational exchange each Spring and Fall. Ms. Baer holds a Master of Education in International Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Science in Financial Economics from Centre College. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Comparative and International Education at the George Washington University.
