Krisztina Domjan, PhD, English Language Training Academy, American University. Dr. Krisztina Domjan is a multilingual, intercultural educator, scholar-optimist, and an explorer of emerging technologies in higher education. With a mission to make learning impactful, ethical, and learning-centered in the age of AI, Dr. Domjan blends the learning sciences with generative AI tools to create pedagogy-first experiences that prioritize inclusivity, transparency, and intentionality. As American University’s inaugural AI Faculty Fellow, her approach promotes responsible integration in teaching and assessment. Dr. Domjan developed the AI Engagement Spectrum, a practical framework for evaluating student-AI interaction across learning tasks. Her recent research explores Human-AI collaboration rhetoric, modulating AI-mediated instruction, and AI chatbots as collaborative project leads supporting structured learning and metacognitive development. Dr. Domjan’s current focus is on why ESL and multilingual educators are uniquely positioned to guide this evolving genre of human–AI communication through principles of intercultural pragmatics. Her work advances human-centered approaches to AI integration in teaching, assessment, and faculty development.
