Emily Liu has been an early innovator in integrating artificial intelligence into international education. In 2016, she developed one of the first WeChat-based chatbots for recruiting Chinese students—well before AI became a mainstream topic. Since then, she has been deeply committed to exploring how technology, especially AI, can enhance global outreach, student engagement, and operational efficiency in the international education sector.
Emily’s work focuses on using AI not only for communication and recruitment, but also for improving work processes like multilingual video translation, data analysis, and agent support. Her broader mission is to help international colleges expand their global presence and enrollment through strategic, tech-enabled solutions.
As both a professional in international education and an English learner herself, Emily created a 4-step AI-powered speaking practice method specifically designed for working adults. Rather than coming from a teacher’s perspective, the method was born out of her own experience navigating language learning while balancing a busy work life. The method uses step-by-step agent guidance, gamified review, and learner-friendly prompts to help adults stay motivated and consistent. It has been piloted with Chinese working professionals and received strong feedback for its practicality and relevance.
Emily has shared this method at several high-profile events, including the EducationUSA Forum 2024, the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, and the China ICAC Conference. At these events, her session received enthusiastic responses from both learners and educators, who appreciated the grounded, learner-centered approach and expressed interest in implementing the method in their own contexts.
